Invitation

Dear Members,

It is our great pleasure and honor to invite you to the XLII Turkish Microbiology Congress, which will be held in Antalya between November 25–29, 2026.

As the broad-based scientific gathering of our Society, which serves as the umbrella organization for microbiology in our country, the Turkish Microbiology Congress in 2026 will offer a rich program featuring a strong scientific content, sessions addressing current topics in microbiology, and distinguished national and international speakers. The most up-to-date scientific developments in critical areas such as global changes in infectious diseases, the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, the rapid transformation of genomic technologies, and the digitalization of laboratories will be discussed. The theme of our congress will be “Following Science, Shaping the Future of Microbiology.”

Microbiology, one of the fields in which science most powerfully touches human life, continues to shape both the present and the future through new discoveries every day. With this congress, we aim to bring together under one roof microbiology specialists, researchers, academicians, healthcare professionals, and industry representatives who interpret and unravel the invisible world of microorganisms and create value for society; thereby fostering collaboration, joint scientific production, and collectively building the future of microbiology.

In this year’s congress, in addition to scientific sessions, we plan to include interactive and participant-oriented sessions, case discussions, “ask the expert” sessions, presentations by young researchers, courses, and various session formats in which innovations from the industry will be shared. Furthermore, under the umbrella of the Turkish Microbiology Congress, the “13th National Congress of Molecular and Diagnostic Microbiology,” which will be organized by the Ankara Microbiology Society in a separate hall for one full day, will contribute to our scientific program.

In order to support the active participation of our young colleagues, accommodation scholarships will be provided to 120 participants at this year’s congress. Our aim is not only to encourage the exchange of knowledge between experience and youth, but also to make a sustainable contribution to our country’s shared scientific vision in the field of microbiology.

With the suggestions and contributions of our working groups and participants, the “Living Congress Program” approach will be maintained in 2026. The scientific program will be published in mid-year and will continuously develop and take shape through your feedback. Satellite symposia, panel participations, and “let’s discuss with the expert” sessions organized by industry partners will also be announced in the relevant sections of the congress program as they are finalized. Our congress website will go live on February 16, 2026, and the program will be updated regularly.

In the light of science, we invite you to the XLII Turkish Microbiology Congress, where we will step into a new era of microbiology in 2026, to collectively build a microbiology approach that is strengthened by technology, evidence-based, solution-oriented, and forward-looking.

On behalf of the Executive Board of the Turkish Society of Microbiology;
Prof. Dr. Candan ÇİÇEK
